RYERSON UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF LAW VIRTUAL OPENING CELEBRATION
THE STORY
A new era. A new precedent. A new law school.
As a Ryerson Alumna, Hala Bissada and her team were proud to collaborate with Ryerson University to produce a one hour virtual celebration for the historic opening of Ryerson’s Faculty of Law.
The first law school to open in Toronto in more than a century and the only North American law school to open during a pandemic, the celebration live streamed on the university’s Ryecast, Facebook Page and YouTube Channel. The celebration included: a warm welcome from Joanne Dallaire, Elder and Senior Advisor, Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation; and opening remarks from Tony Staffieri, Chair, Boar of Governors; Mohamed Lachemi, President & Vice-Chancellor; and Donna E. Young, Dean, Faculty of Law.
Hosted by Ryerson Alumna and Global News Anchor, Farah Nasser, viewers enjoyed a special musical performance by Juno-nominated singer-songwriter, iskwē; a ribbon cutting ceremony presided by His Worship, Mayor John Tory; and closing remarks by Saeed Zolfaghari, Interim Provost and Vice-President, Academic.
The virtual grand opening live stream was featured in The Toronto Star and applauded by Ryerson faculty and students, attracting more than 3,000+ views.
