HEROES GALA 2023

THE STORY

The hala inc. team had the opportunity to collaborate with Right to Play to produce their 8th Annual Heroes Gala.

More than 1000 community leaders in business, sports, entertainment, government, and philanthropy united to honour outstanding heroes who invested their time and talents to protect, educate and empower children and youth in Canada and around the world.

Right To Play operates in 15 countries around the world – including more than 70 Indigenous communities in Canada – reaching over 1.52 million children and youth through play-based programming.

Hosted by primetime host of Sportsnet Central, Evanka Osmak, with special guest auction host Olympic Gold Medalist and host of The Amazing Race Canada, Jon Montgomery, the event raised over $2 million and honoured the 2023 Hero Award Winners:

Corporate Hero: Tony Staffieri, CEO, Rogers Communications
Athlete Hero: Diana Matheson, Former Canadian Soccer player, 2x Olympic Bronze Medalist & co-founder of Project 8 Sports
Youth Hero: Lola Monague, Right to Play Youth Leadership Program, Beausoleil Island, Ontario

Other highlights of the evening included special performances by Chubby Cree, Ballet Creole, Sooriana Group, Young Tribe as well as a special spoken word performance led by Ontario’s first poet laureate Randell Adjei.

During the reception and after party, the guest experienced the Play Zone featuring special activations including candy bar, hopscotch, corn hole, spin the wheel, air hockey, ping pong and foosball.
